Education is not only a fundamental right but also a basic necessity.

Himalayan Heart’s mission is to provide education, therapy and skills for children with Autism and Intellectual Impairments in Nepal. Our aim is to enable them to access the communities they live in, as well as provide support to their families to help them enhance the lives of their children. We also aim to increase awareness and understanding of these disabilities in their local community.

Himalayan Heart’s long term goals are to provide children with Autism and Intellectual Impairements with opportunities given to others:

• A right to be educated
• A right to have their needs met through therapy and individual educational goals and programming
• A right to belong and have an active role in their community
• A right to fulfill their dreams and desires
• A right to make choices and become independent and able
• A right to be heard - communication
• A right to live the life they want with support through staff and family

Himalayan Heart is working at providing long term sustainability for children, and the families of these children, to provide working opportunities and for the future. It is also working towards educating families and the community to develop acceptance and understanding through information and education.

Himalayan Heat can create a learning environment with a curriculum designed to meet all students’ individual needs and build skill development towards developing a sense of self worth and dignity as a member of the community.
